Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is the process of bringing the breasts of women with large breasts to the desired size using various methods. There may be a breast appearance that disrupts the body proportion due to both congenital causes and subsequent causes such as pregnancy. The aim of breast reduction is to achieve symmetry and to have ideal sized breasts. In addition, another aim is to eliminate the problems that disturb the person in terms of health.
An operation to be applied for breast reduction gives the breasts a natural appearance, the problems listed above are eliminated, and the person's life becomes easier. In aesthetic breast reduction, the large breast tissue is reshaped according to the body size of the person. The nipple is moved to where it should be.
Breast reduction operations are always scarred operations; depending on the size and sagging of the breast, there is a scar around the nipple, a vertical scar below it and a horizontal scar under the breast. In breast reduction operations, three basic procedures are performed: The nipple is moved up, excess breast tissue is removed and shaped, and finally excess skin tissue is removed and discarded. The length of the scar varies depending on the size and sagging of the breast and the elasticity of the patient's skin. All scars fade over time and become barely noticeable. All classical breast reductions end with an "inverted T" scar. This method is still the most commonly used technique in the world. This method can be applied in patients with excessively large and saggy breasts, patients in whom the skin has lost its elasticity due to excessive weight loss, elderly people and those with excessive asymmetry. However, it is not a suitable technique especially for young patients due to the length and prominence of the scars.
